Deep pressure, at the pace you can take
Deep tissue works the deeper layers of the muscle. The pressure is stronger and slower than in a relaxing massage, which is why nobody picks it for the pleasure of the hour: they pick it for tension that no longer answers to a light touch — a whole back after a heavy training block, a shoulder that went hard after months at a desk.
Deep pressure does not mean putting up with it in silence. I ask during the session how the force is and adjust from your answer.
What one client wrote about this session
★★★★★
“I have had several fantastic 60-90 minute deep tissue massages with Ligia. I had quite a bit of tension in my upper back and right shoulder. Ligia applies the perfect amount of pressure by periodically checking with me on my comfort level. She has relieved the pain and increased the range of motion in my shoulder. She is always very timely and professional. The environment was very relaxing and clean.”

When deep tissue is not the choice
If the pain appeared after a blow, or came with a fever, tingling or loss of strength, the first step is a doctor. Massage therapy eases muscular tension; it does not treat a diagnosed condition.
If you have never had a firm-pressure massage, tell me before you book. We can start with a myofascial release, which works one area only and has a relaxing part alongside.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Questions about deep tissue
Is deep tissue the same as myofascial release?
No, and the price is not the same either. Myofascial release works one specific area and brings a relaxing part with it, in 75 minutes for R$ 300. Deep tissue is deep pressure in 60 minutes, for R$ 300.
How is it different from a relaxing massage?
The relaxing one has a steady rhythm and light pressure, made for switching off, and costs R$ 280 for 60 minutes. Deep tissue is slower and deeper, for tension that no longer comes out with a light touch.
Will I be sore the next day?
You may feel the area that was worked the next day, a bit like after training. If that happens, tell me at the next session and I take the pressure down.
Do I need to prepare anything?
No. I need about three square metres of free floor, near a socket if the session uses a device. The sheets and towels are mine: sterilised, and each one used only once before being sterilised again.
